To My Good Friend Charlie Flynn
From the Album “Kevin Thompson- Songs From A Broken Planet”
Words & Music by Kevin Thompson
Verse
I know, your outside walking around
Waiting for the bus to the other side of town
Your off to buy some shoes and maybe a new hat
Like the kind you stole that time from the laundymat
You were tending garden while your house was burning down
You smiled and took your pitchfork and stuck it in the ground
You said I know I’m happy but I’m not sure why
Today might be the day
That I lift my arms and fly
Chorus
And I’ll say just because you can
Doesn’t mean you always should
And just because you know
Doesn’t mean you understand
But for what it’s worth I think I had that thought myself
Verse
Apologies all around if I seem to be confused
Lately I don’t know what I’m supposed to do
Sometimes I’m the world’s biggest servant
When it comes to being humble I’m the best
Other times I’m the worlds biggest liar
That happens all too often I confess
I said that I’m not happy but I’m not sure why
Today might be the day
That I fold my arms and die
Chorus
And you’ll say just because you can
Doesn’t mean you always should
And just because you know
Doesn’t mean you understand
But for what it’s worth I think I had that thought myself
